The final leg of our land journey brought us right back to the bustling coastal waters near New Jersey and New York for the absolute pinnacle of world sports: the World Cup Final. For over a month, the MGB has carried us up and down the highways, connecting thousands of miles of ocean views, beachside taverns, and unforgettable moments with fans from every corner of the earth. Today, the entire world stood still, and you could feel the electric intensity hanging over the harbor long before the opening whistle blew.
We found a legendary open-air tavern perched on a wooden pier overlooking the Atlantic, surrounded by thousands of ecstatic fans clad in red and gold for Spain, and sky-blue and white for Argentina. Sweet Pea and I grabbed a spot near the railing, ordering a pitcher of ice-cold local brew and a platter of fresh oysters on the half shell. Up on the big screen, Spain took the pitch against Argentina in a World Cup Final for the ages.
The match was a masterclass in tactical discipline and breathtaking athletic grace. Argentina pushed forward with relentless passion, testing the Spanish backline time and time again, but Spain stood resolute, moving the ball with surgical precision. In the closing minutes of an agonizingly tense contest, Spain struck with a moment of pure magic—a lightning-quick pass breaking through the defense and finding the back of the net to seal a thrilling 1-0 victory for Spain and claim the championship trophy.
The roar from the pier echoed across the open water as confetti rained down on the screen and strangers embraced in pure celebration. Looking out over the harbor as the setting sun painted the Atlantic sky in deep crimson and gold, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for this crazy, beautiful ride. Trading the sails for four wheels let us live right in the heart of a global spectacle while staying tied to the peaceful rhythm of the ocean every single day. As the warm summer breeze rolls over the pier, washing away every last bit of road wear, I take a slow sip of my drink and smile. One choice keeps me in paradise, and the other, well, keeps me in paradise. Until next time, I'm going to sit right here and get back to doing what I do best... absolutely nothing.
